Google has recently introduced a new set of tools for the sake of ‘digital wellbeing’ of the users of YouTube. It will help the users to control the amount of time they spend watching video.
These tools will inform you about the time you spend on the site and even can limit the viewing if required.
On an official announcement from the search engine giant, they announced; “Our goal is to provide a better understanding of time spent on YouTube, so you can make informed decisions about how you want YouTube to best fit into your life.”
Here is an overview of the features of the tools along with the usage.
Actual Watch Time: The users can view the actual watch time on YouTube that means it will count the time of watching videos only, not the total amount of time the users spent on YouTube. The Watch Time will also be divided into today, yesterday, 7 days and average of daily watch time.
Break Reminders: If you are aware of the fact that you are watching too much time watching videos, then you can set reminder to take a break. To that, you need to go to the setting menu and set the particular amount of time after which you want the reminder. After the limit will reach, a pop up of the reminder will be displayed on the screen which you can dismiss easily if you want to watch more.
Notification Digest: It can also limit the number of notifications users receive in a day. It can be reduced to once a day. And the timing for notification can also be customized.
